Alum Krishnan Vasudevan to Screen Film

The Wrong Bin, a film by Krishnan Vasudevanis screening October 7th @ 7PM at the Park Slope Food Coop. More screening dates to come. 

After New York City closed the Fresh Kills landfill, it began sending all of its trash out-of-state. A small portion is incinerated, but most of trash is shipped hundreds of miles away to landfills in Pennsylvania, Ohio, etc.

Since 2002, the city’s annual land filling bill has doubled from $600 million to $1.3 billion a year. Nearly 36% of the 2 million tons NYC sends to land fills each year is recyclable.

This documentary unveils the environmental and financial costs New York City is stuck with, when its residents recycle poorly.
