Activist, educator and filmmaker of The Uprising of ’34, Blue Vinyl, A Healthy Baby Girl joined News and Documentary student in Fall 2010 and discussed styles, shooting techniques, music and new ways of documentary distribution.

Cinematographer Kirsten Johnson joined NYU News & Doc’s Master Classes to discuss her filming techniques, how to shoot effectively in the field, and how she became a human tripod. She offered her experiences and anecdotes about her role as a cameraperson in a larger production, and a great deal of technical advice on camerawork.
Former Washington Post video journalist Travis Fox spoke at NYU recently, sharing his ideas on what the emerging medium is all about and changes in the industry. Fox is a pioneer of the burgeoning DSLR scene, and has produced several award winning pieces using the Canon 5D MKII and 7D.
