Her film, Girls Trip, is being praised for its diversity and breaking the mold for black women to star in a straight comedy film. Regina Hall plays Ryan Pierce, a best selling author who uses her speech at Essence Fest to bring together her college friends. Although she tries to pretend everything is all good, her friends can tell her cheating husband is making her unhappy. Their mission is to lift her spirits and help her through her marriage.
